Sestri Levante like Copenhagen, a Pescatorello on the rock

It is set to become the new symbol of Sestri Levante, like the Little Mermaid is for Copenhagen. The “Pescatorello” (the little fisherman) by Leonardo Lustig, of German origins born in Santa Margherita, was placed last Monday in the Bay of Portobello in Sestri Levante, on a rock in the sea in front of the convent of the Annunziata.

It is a bronze sculpture representing in classical forms a young fisherman squatting in the act of lowering the net into the sea. In recent months, Lustig gave freely his work to the municipalities in the district through an advertising campaign. And Sestri Levante has accepted the proposal; with taking charge of the bureaucratic and economic operation. In the coming days there will be the inauguration ceremony.
